Congratulations on your acceptance to the Howard University School of Social Work to pursue an online MSW!

Read on for important next steps for enrollment, field placement, student resources and more.

Complete Your Enrollment

  • Sign and complete your Intent to Enroll document (you will receive details via email).
  • Pay your enrollment deposit (you will receive instructions and a link via email from Howard University after signing the Intent to Enroll document).  

Before You Begin Classes

You will need to complete the following tasks before you begin classes. Select each task to view instructions. 

  1. Set up your Howard Email account: All official communication will be sent through your Howard University email address.  You will need to activate your Howard email account in order to login into Bison Hub (see below).
  2. Login to Bison Hub: This is Howard’s secure portal for registration, grades, personal information, and financial information.  All details related to accessing and what to find in Bison Hub can be found here. 
  3. Order ALL Official Transcripts: Order your official transcripts as soon as possible or a hold could be placed on your account.  If you submitted unofficial transcripts during the application process, you still need to submit official transcripts for our records. 
  4. Apply for Financial Aid: To apply for federal student aid, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) The FAFSA code for Howard University is 001448. 
  5. Connect with Student Success: You will receive a welcome call from your Student Success Advisor (SSA) after you have completed the enrollment process. They will share the basics for getting started and an overview of the orientation process. 
  6. Register for Classes: Follow the instructions on page 3 of the Bison Hub Resource. 
  7. Login to the Digital Campus: This is where you will access your orientation course, which must be completed prior to the first week of classes, as well as your coursework for the classes you have registered for. 
  8. Purchase Course Materials: Review your syllabus for each course you are enrolled in to find out what materials you may need to purchase. 
  9. Order Your Howard Student ID: You can use your Howard University ID to receive student discounts and to identify yourself when interacting with University resources. View details here. 
  10. Prepare for your Internship: Each student works with a Placement Specialist to secure a required internship during the program.
